Cyclist Dies in Late-Night Crash with VW Polo on Lower Road
A rider on a green Barracuda bicycle was pronounced dead at the scene following a collision around 12:30am on Monday, 2 May 2022, on Lower Road.
The victim was cycling alone when they were hit by a black VW Polo heading towards the village.
Police Hunt Light-Coloured Vehicle Seen Near Crash Site
PC Chris Oliver-Jones of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit revealed investigators identified a light-coloured car, possibly white or silver, driving along the same road between 1:00am and 1:15am.
“We do not believe this vehicle was involved in the incident, but we want to speak to the driver as they may hold vital information to help our inquiries,” said PC Oliver-Jones.
Five Arrested, All Released on Bail Pending Investigation
As part of the ongoing investigation, police arrested five people: a 17-year-old lad, a 20-year-old woman, and three men aged 18, 19, and 20. All have been bailed until the end of May.
