Police Bust Massive Cannabis Farm Hidden Under Homes in Wollaton
A staggering haul of around 600 cannabis plants was uncovered after police executed a Misuse of Drugs Act warrant on two neighbouring homes in Ringwood Crescent, Wollaton, early Tuesday morning.
Secret Grow Operation Dug Out From Under Houses
Officers discovered that someone had dug underneath the semi-detached properties to create extra grow space – removing bricks from the foundations and putting the homes at serious risk of collapse. A structural engineer was called in immediately. Repairs are now underway to shore up the buildings, while the scene remains secured.
To make matters worse, the grow operation’s electrics had been bypassed, creating a dangerous hazard.
Two Men Caught Fleeing the Scene
During the raid, two men made a frantic attempt to escape but were quickly caught and detained. Bac Van Nguyen, 44, and Binh Quach, 24, both with no fixed address, have been charged with cannabis cultivation. The pair were remanded in custody and are set to appear at nottingham/" title="Nottingham" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 22 December.
Police Call for Public Help to Beat Drug Crime
“This was extremely dangerous and a structural engineer is liaising with the landlord to ensure repairs are made,” said Inspector Peter Shaw of Nottinghamshire Police.
“These proactive operations are vital in tackling drug crime in our communities. We urge local people to keep reporting suspicious activity. The more information we get, the better we can act to keep people safe.”
