Violent Woman Jailed After Repeated Attacks on Police
Janet Waller, 32, launched a series of vicious attacks on police officers during three separate incidents at her Pier Road home between May and September 2020. She admitted all 17 charges and was locked up for one year at Maidstone Crown Court on 6 November 2020.
From Keys to Bottles: Waller’s Rage Unleashed
The trouble began on 14 May when Waller contacted Kent Police via their online chat, asking for help. When officers arrived, she hurled keys and a mobile phone at their legs as they tried to leave.
Later that same afternoon, she threw a bottle at another officer who luckily dodged the attack. Following her arrest, Waller continued her rampage with more offences while in custody.
Spitting, Kicking and False Alarms
On 19 August, Waller falsely called police to her home and proceeded to assault officers with kicks and by throwing objects. One officer was even spat at during the incident.
Tag Removal Sparks Final Assaults
The chaos continued on 14 September when Waller informed police she had removed her electronic tag. She lunged and kicked officers called to her address. Two additional officers sent to escort her to the station were also kicked.
Sergeant Lauren Bowron, Kent Police, said: “The assaults that Waller subjected our officers to were thoroughly degrading and unprovoked. Police do face dangerous situations, but they should never have to tolerate being attacked. We tried repeatedly to engage with Waller to encourage change. It is deeply regrettable she didn’t respond. The court’s sentence is proportionate and I hope she uses her time in custody to reform.”
