Shock at Epping Asylum Hotel: Syrian Migrant Charged with Sexual Assault Days After Protests
Migrant at The Bell Hotel Faces Multiple Charges
A 32-year-old Syrian asylum seeker, Mohammed Sharwarq, living at The Bell Hotel in Epping, has been hit with a string of serious charges. He now faces:
- Two counts of common assault
- Four counts of assault by beating
- One count of sexual assault on a man under the Sexual Offences Act 2003
Fresh Scandal Follows High-Profile Protests
This comes only weeks after another migrant case caused outrage. Earlier this month, Yonas Kebatu was accused of sexually assaulting two teenage boys – aged 14 and 16 – just days after arriving in the UK by small boat.
Kebatu denies all charges, which include harassment and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. His case sparked fierce protests outside The Bell Hotel, with crowds waving St George’s flags and demanding tougher migrant checks.
Security Tightened After Unrest
In response, authorities have installed security fencing around the hotel to keep protesters at bay. Essex Police say they remain on high alert, monitoring the situation closely to maintain public order and safety.
