Sobirjon Boltaev, 26, from Leyton, has been locked up for three years after a shocking sexual assault near Stratford’s Olympic Park.

Rapist Sentenced for Shocking Attack in Stratford

Boltaev was found guilty of two counts of sexual assault at Snaresbrook Crown Court on November 29. He’ll also stay on the sex offenders’ register for a decade and faces a sexual harm prevention order.

The Assault: Victim Fights Back

The horror unfolded in the early hours of July 23, 2023. The 27-year-old victim had just left a Hackney Wick bar when Boltaev approached her.

  • He forced an unwanted kiss.
  • Dragged her to a wooded area near the Olympic Park.
  • Attacked her again before she managed to fight him off.

She quickly called the police—showing incredible bravery under terrifying circumstances.

Met Police Crack Case with CCTV and Clues

Detectives from the Met worked relentlessly to catch Boltaev. They:

  • Tracked his movements on CCTV.
  • Identified his bike and bank transactions.
  • Linked his phone to a delivery app account.

Police arrested him on September 1, 2023, and found clothing at his home matching CCTV footage. Witnesses confirmed he was working as a delivery driver at the time.

Detective Praises Victim’s Bravery

“We hope this sentence brings some level of justice for the victim-survivor who bravely fought the perpetrator off in what must have been an extremely frightening situation and came straight to the police,” said Detective Inspector Jon Ford.

He also thanked witnesses who helped secure a strong conviction.

The Met’s Stance on Violence Against Women

The Met is ramping up efforts to tackle violence against women and girls as part of its New Met for London strategy. This includes:

  • Boosting specialist teams to prioritise these cases.
  • Targeting dangerous offenders and spotting high-risk areas.
  • Using police powers to better protect women and girls.
