Monster Sentenced to 16 Years for Sick Child Abuse
In October 2023, an anonymous tip-off sparked a police probe into the horrific abuse of a young girl. Their hunt zeroed in on 38-year-old Ogochukwu Diayi, who was arrested the very same day.
Shocking Charges Laid Against Diayi
Following a detailed investigation and the brave testimony of the victim, Diayi was slapped with serious offences: five counts of rape, two counts of sexual activity with a child, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and threats to kill.
Despite denying all charges, he was found guilty at trial.
Judge Sends Abuser Behind Bars
On Friday 17 January, Birmingham Crown Court handed down a hefty 16-year jail sentence. Diayi was also hit with a restraining order and forced to sign the sex offenders register.
“This sentence is reflective of the awful abuse suffered by the victim. She has shown tremendous courage throughout this investigation,” said DC Amelia Rose from the West Midlands Police Child Abuse Investigation Team.
“West Midlands Police encourages anyone who has suffered abuse to come forward. You will be supported, and you will be believed.”
