Man Admits Hiding Dead Body but Slams Fraud Claims

Freezer Body Found After Nearly Two Years

Damion Johnson has pleaded guilty to preventing the lawful burial of a dead body between September 2018 and August 2020. The body belonged to 71-year-old John Wainwright, who died in September 2018. Shockingly, his corpse was discovered nearly two years later, stashed in a freezer at the Cleveland Tower flat where the men lived together in Holywell Head.

Fraud Allegations Rock Trial

Prosecutors claim Johnson used Mr Wainwright’s bank card to withdraw cash, pay for goods, and transfer money into his own account from September 2018 through May 2020. Johnson denies all charges of fraud by false representation.

Trial Set for November

Johnson, from Sun Street, derby/" title="Derby" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Derby, remains out on bail. He will face trial for the fraud charges on November 7. The cause of Mr Wainwright’s death has yet to be confirmed.
