Registered Sex Offender Jailed for Horrific Child Abuse Material

A registered sex offender has been slammed with a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence after police uncovered a stash of vile child sexual abuse videos and images during a surprise raid on his home in Snodland, Kent.

Roger Crabtree Caught Red-Handed

Roger Crabtree, 59, from Rectory Close, was already under an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) due to prior convictions for making and possessing indecent images of children. On November 2, 2023, Kent Police executed an unannounced visit and found him using a laptop. Under his SHPO, Crabtree had to make any internet-enabled devices available for inspection immediately.

Police Seize Devices & Find Shocking Material

Officers discovered troubling search terms on Crabtree’s laptop. They seized multiple devices, including hard drives, which forensic experts later revealed contained 33 illegal images and videos. Several were Category A — the worst kind — showing real children being abused.

Justice Served at Maidstone Crown Court

Crabtree was arrested and charged with three counts of making indecent images of children. He was also accused of breaching his SHPO by deleting internet history from a Kindle in January 2024. At Maidstone Crown Court on May 2, 2025, Recorder David Wood sentenced him to 30 months behind bars, highlighting the man’s “high risk to children” and the horrific nature of the material.

“These are real victims having terrible things done to them,” the judge said.

PC Rob Allen, who led the probe, blasted Crabtree’s blatant disregard for the law.

“Crabtree has a lengthy history of offending… He’s shown a flagrant disregard for the restrictions placed on him. This sentence shows that we will use every power available to bring such offenders to justice.”

The court also activated a previously suspended sentence, adding to Crabtree’s total jail time.
