South Wales Cop Quits After Leaking Police Secrets for Two Years
A South Wales Police officer has quit in disgrace after illegally accessing the force’s computer system and leaking sensitive info to the public for over two years.
Unauthorized Searches and Leaks to Civilians
The unnamed officer carried out unauthorized searches on the police database. Confidential information was passed to three women and two men, in what police have called a serious breach of trust and professional conduct.
Internal Probe Ends with Criminal Caution, No Further Action
After an internal investigation, the officer was handed a criminal caution. However, no disciplinary hearing took place because the officer resigned before it could conclude.
Police Vow Zero Tolerance on Misuse of Systems
South Wales Police stressed how seriously they take the issue. A spokesperson said:
“Any misuse of police systems is unacceptable and undermines the confidence the public places in us. This behaviour does not reflect the standards expected of our officers.”
