Man Charged with Murder After Bitterne Pub Brawl

Harry Joyce, 27, of Barry Road, Southampton, appeared at Winchester Crown Court this morning charged with the murder of Perry Cardy, a Bitterne local.

Joyce stood in the dock, looking around the courtroom as guards flanked him. Only eight members of the public watched the brief hearing from the gallery.

Case Adjourned Ahead of July Plea

Judge Keith Cutler adjourned the hearing until a pre-case management session on 10 July, where Joyce will be expected to enter a plea to the murder charge.

A preliminary trial date has been set for 2 October 2019.

Fatal Punch Sparks Police Investigation

The murder follows an attack at The Bitterne Pub on Friday 19 April 2019. Perry Cardy was reportedly punched by Joyce while drinking at the pub.

Police continue to investigate a second man suspected of involvement in the incident.
