A woman has been given a 12 month driving disqualification after she assaulted a police officer when he attempted to arrest her at the roadside.

Woman Banned After Kicking Cop in Drink-Drive Bust

Maria Giblen-Price, 31, from Mill Lane, Box, pleaded guilty last week to assaulting a police officer and refusing to provide a specimen for analysis.

Speeding and Smell of Booze

On January 17, cops spotted Giblen-Price speeding away from a local pub in a black Mitsubishi Colt along the A4 in Box. Officers pulled her over after catching a whiff of alcohol.

Attack and Arrest

After failing a roadside breath test, Giblen-Price was arrested for suspected drink driving. But she soon turned violent, kicking an officer in the leg.

Refused Second Test and Fined

At the police station, Giblen-Price refused to give a second sample. She was charged with assault and failing to provide a specimen.

The court handed down a hefty punishment following her troublesome behaviour.
