Gun scare in Maidstone town centre ends with arrest!
Police Called After Suspect Seen Brandishing Handgun
Kent Police rushed to Knightrider Street in Maidstone at around 7pm on Monday 16 September 2024. Witnesses reported a man waving what looked like a handgun. The city centre was on edge as officers scrambled to the scene.
Suspect Arrested and Air Weapon Seized
Patrols swiftly arrested 32-year-old Josh Edwards from Fairmeadow, Maidstone, at 7.20pm. After searching the area, officers found a suspected air weapon hidden in a nearby bush. Edwards was taken into custody without incident.
Charged and Remanded
Edwards now faces charges of possessing an imitation firearm in a public place. He was remanded to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 18 September. Police continue investigations.
