Margate Assault Shocker: One Man Held, Four on Bail After Weekend Violence
A serious assault in Margate town centre sparked a major police response on Saturday afternoon. A 32-year-old man remains in custody while four others have been released on bail as the investigation ramps up.
Brutal Attack in Broad Daylight
Emergency services were rushed to Margate High Street at 2:18pm on Saturday, 21 June, following reports of an assault at a residential property near the top end of the street. Kent Police and the South East Coast Ambulance Service quickly set up a police cordon at the scene.
The victim suffered a cut to his arm and was taken to hospital. Thankfully, police confirmed his injuries are not life-threatening or life-changing.
Multiple Arrests Made
Kent Police arrested a 32-year-old Margate man at the scene, who remains in custody as of Monday afternoon. Four others – two men in their 30s, a man in his 40s, and a woman in her 50s – were also detained in connection with the incident but have since been bailed.
Officers revealed some arrests were made on suspicion of criminal damage, while others relate to assault.
Police Hunt for Witnesses and CCTV Footage
Detectives have launched an ongoing investigation and are urging anyone with information to come forward. They’re especially keen to see private CCTV or doorbell camera footage from the area that might shed light on the violent altercation.
