Swindon Predator Matthew Vandross Jailed for 24 Years Over Child Sex Crimes
Predator Locked Up for Horrific Abuse
Matthew Vandross, 30, of Homington Avenue, was slammed with a 24-year prison sentence yesterday after being found guilty of multiple child sex offences, including the rape of a child under 13. The Salisbury Crown Court handed down the hefty sentence, with a minimum of 20 years to be served.
Abuse Took Place Over Seven Months
The vile offences happened between October 2020 and May 2021. Vandross was convicted of:
- Sexual assault by touching
- Digital penetration (21 counts)
- Rape of a child under 13 (four counts)
The victim was under 10 years old when she bravely reported the abuse, with support from a friend who witnessed some of the horrific acts.
Detective Praises Victims’ Bravery
Det Con Mel Neal from the Child Abuse Investigation Team said: “These are unspeakable crimes and I’m pleased that the courts have recognised this by handing Vandross a lengthy jail sentence. He is a predatory individual who took advantage of a vulnerable child and abused her in a truly horrific way.”
“He made violent threats to silence her and consistently denied the offences, forcing the victims to endure the trauma of a trial.”
“I want to personally pay tribute to the two girls involved. Their bravery and courage beyond their years helped secure this successful prosecution despite the trauma they faced.”
“Anyone who has been a victim of sexual abuse is urged to come forward—regardless of when the crime happened. We are committed to bringing predators like Vandross to justice.”
