Teenager Locked Up Indefinitely After Gosport Fatal Stabbing
A 17-year-old boy from Gosport has been handed an indefinite hospital order after pleading guilty to manslaughter for stabbing a man to death.
Teen Pleads Guilty to Manslaughter
At Winchester Crown Court this morning (Wednesday 1 May), the unnamed teen admitted manslaughter of 54-year-old Barry Hounsome on grounds of diminished responsibility. The horrific assault happened at a Southcroft Road address in Gosport, where Mr Hounsome’s body was found on 29 October 2018.
Victim Dies From Head Injury
The court heard Mr Hounsome died from a severe head injury sustained during the attack by the teenager.
Police Praise Family and Officers
“This was an incredibly distressing case for the family of Mr Hounsome, and I would like to commend them for the dignity and strength they have shown throughout this investigation,” said Detective Superintendent Mandy Horsburgh.
“Barry’s life was taken in the most horrific way. I hope this conclusion brings the family some comfort, allowing them time and space to heal.
I also want to thank all officers and staff for their professionalism and tireless work in bringing this difficult case to a swift close.”
