Teen Charged with Murder of 16-Year-Old Shanur Ahmed in Newham

A 17-year-old male from Canning Town has been charged with the murder of 16-year-old Shanur Ahmed. The young suspect was also charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon on Saturday, 7 March. He is set to appear in custody at Stratford Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 9 March.

Four Others Arrested, One Man Released

Four other males – two aged 17 and two aged 16 – were arrested on suspicion of murder but have been bailed pending further investigations. A 20-year-old man who was also arrested has been released with no further action.

Tragic Discovery Sparks Ongoing Homicide Probe

The investigation began after Shanur’s body was found at the rear of Gallions Reach DLR station on Tuesday, 3 March. Homicide detectives from the Specialist Crime unit continue to probe the incident as enquiries press on.
