Teens Guilty of Brutal Stabbing Murder of Jack

Nineteen-year-old Brandon Price and a 15-year-old boy have been convicted of murdering Jack in a shocking attack last December.

Chilling Attack in Cook Street Park

On December 7, 2022, Jack was enjoying the day with two female friends on Franchise Street. Suddenly, Price and the younger boy approached. The group then walked to Cookie Park, a grassy patch on Cook Street, where tensions turned deadly.

The younger boy started acting aggressively, threatening Jack and making him uneasy. Jack signalled his friends it was time to go. One girl suggested Jack walk her home. As Jack went to fist bump Price goodbye, Price launched a savage knife attack, stabbing Jack multiple times.

Attackers Fled Laughing, Victim Dies Instantly

Price and his accomplice fled the scene, laughing. Meanwhile, the two girls screamed for help and called emergency services. Despite rapid medical care, Jack died from a stab wound to the heart.

The reason behind the attack remains a mystery.

CCTV Evidence and Quick Arrest

  • CCTV showed the attackers celebrating shortly after the stabbing along Cook Street.
  • They discarded the knife in a drain on Franchise Street, where police later recovered it.
  • Detectives arrested the pair within days.
  • Forensic tests found Jack’s blood on their clothes.

Denied Guilt, But Jury Sees Through Lies

At trial, Price claimed self-defence, while the younger boy admitted presence but denied attacking Jack. The jury at 1 Crown Court rejected their excuses and found them guilty of murder.

Sentencing is set for January 5th.

Detective Chief Inspector Hannah Whitehouse said: “This was a completely unprovoked, premeditated attack on a vulnerable young man simply enjoying time with friends. Our thoughts are with Jack’s family.”
