DNA Breakthrough in Birmingham Murder Mystery

Police have recovered a crucial DNA sample from the suspect in the brutal murder of a 41-year-old man in Digbeth, Birmingham. The victim was found dead at a flat on Moseley Street on 9 February.

Suspect Profile Emerging from DNA and CCTV

Forensic tests reveal the killer is a man with a 99.99% probability of being black. However, the DNA did not match anyone on the national database—a rare and baffling hit for detectives.

“The UK has one of the most efficient DNA databases in the world,” said Detective Inspector Jim Mahon. “To have a DNA sample from a murder suspect that does not match anyone is highly unusual.”

“We’re still trying to establish a motive, though robbery seems likely. Whoever killed Mr Zhang is violent, and we’re determined to find him fast.”

Earlier this month, police released CCTV footage of the suspect. He’s described as a black male in his 20s, between 5ft 4ins and 5ft 5ins tall, with an average build. He was dressed in dark clothing, sporting a dark hat and mask.

Detectives also believe the killer injured his hand during the attack. A fresh clip shows the suspect walking along Barford Street, Digbeth, moments before the murder.

“Besides the DNA and description, CCTV reveals the man has an unusual way of walking,” said Det Insp Mahon.

“If you know someone who fits this description and has an injury from that night, please contact Crimestoppers immediately.”

“No need to fear coming forward. The DNA sample lets us quickly rule out innocent people.”

Crimestoppers Plea: Speak Up Anonymously
