Leeds Predator Jailed for Over 11 Years in Sex Trafficking Case
Anghel Iordache, 49, from Harehills, Leeds, has been slammed with an 11-year prison sentence at Leeds Crown Court this month. The conviction follows a chilling investigation that kicked off in March after police carried out a welfare check at a local address.
Police Rescue Two Women, Hunt for More Victims
During the operation, officers found two vulnerable women and placed them under urgent safeguarding measures. Leeds Child Vulnerable to Exploitation Team (CVET) detectives suspect Iordache may have trafficked other women into the UK for sexual exploitation.
They are now urging any potential victims to step forward immediately.
Detective Inspector Issues Warning to Other Victims
“I hope that this outcome gives people the confidence to report activity that could be linked to modern slavery to the police, so that we can take action with partners against those who are involved in this heinous practice,” said Detective Inspector Al Cheyne.
“Now that Iordache is behind bars for a long time, we appeal to women who believe he trafficked them into the country to come forward.”
Support for Victims Comes First
Police reassure anyone who contacts them will be supported by specialised officers trained to handle these sensitive cases discreetly. Multiple agencies are working together to ensure thorough investigations and to bring more offenders like Iordache to justice.
If you believe you or someone you know has been trafficked by Iordache, contact Leeds CVET immediately.
