Shocking Shooting in East London Leaves Woman Critically Injured
Woman Shot Amidst Music Video Filming in Broadway Market
Police raced to Westgate Street, E8, at 8.52pm on Sunday, 22 November after reports of a shooting. Officers arrived alongside London Ambulance Service (LAS) teams to find a 32-year-old woman with a gunshot wound.
Officers performed CPR before paramedics took over. The woman was rushed to an east London hospital and is now in critical but stable condition.
Innocent Bystander Caught in Violent Feud
Detectives from Specialist Crime North (Trident), led by Detective Inspector Matt Webb, revealed that around ten people were gathered moments before the shooting. They believe the group was filming a music video with professional camera gear in Broadway Market.
An altercation broke out when another group arrived. The clash escalated quickly, with one group firing a gun before both fled the scene.
“The victim was an innocent bystander left seriously injured in the street,” DI Webb said. “Members of the public helped before police administered first aid.”
Police Plea: Communities Must Help Catch the Shooter
Detective Inspector Webb thanked residents who’ve come forward and urged others with information not to stay silent. “Someone knows who did this,” he said. “Don’t help violent criminals by keeping quiet.”
He called on witnesses or anyone with videos or images related to the incident or the filming to contact the police immediately.
