Prison Panic: Video Shows Attack on Man at Winston Green Jail

A shocking video has surfaced showing a man, Mohammed Abbkr, being attacked by fellow inmates inside a show block at Winston Green Prison. Abbkr, 28, from Birmingham’s Edgbaston, is accused of spraying a substance on two Muslim victims in separate incidents.

Abbkr Remanded Ahead of Crown Court Appearance

The Sudan-born accused spoke only to confirm his details at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court and was remanded in custody. He is set to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on April 20.

Fires Ignite Fear in West London and Birmingham Mosques

  • On February 27, Hashi Odowa, 82, was set on fire near a mosque in Ealing, West London, suffering severe burns to his face and arms.
  • Mohammed Rayaz, 70, was also badly burned after his jacket caught fire near a mosque in Edgbaston, Birmingham, requiring a skin graft and hospital treatment.

Mr Odowa has been released from hospital and is recovering, while Mr Rayaz remains in a serious but stable condition.

Community Outraged Over ‘Malicious Attacks’ on Elderly Muslims

Mosque members condemned the incidents as “abhorrent and malicious attacks on two elders in our community.” A centre spokesperson said, “As the blessed month of Ramadan begins, our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.”

Police Seek CCTV to Aid Investigation

West Midlands Police urged anyone with CCTV or doorbell footage to come forward. The Metropolitan Police confirmed they are working closely with West Midlands detectives on the case.

Family and Officials React

Mohammed Rayaz’s family described the horror as they rushed to help after hearing his screams. Solicitor Shahbon Hussain said neighbours helped extinguish the flames and get Mr Rayaz medical care.

MP Shabana Mahmood, who spoke to Mr Rayaz via video call, said the victim has been “touched by the outpouring of love and support” since the attack.
