Three Men Jailed for Savage Southwark Shooting That Blind Man in One Eye
Three men involved in a grisly Southwark shooting have been sentenced to a combined 57 years behind bars. The brutal attack left one victim blind in one eye and facing life-changing injuries.
Longest Sentence for Gunman Ian Ford
Ian Ford, 33, from Ilderton Road, SE15, was convicted of attempted murder and possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life. On Monday, 25 March, he was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
Fredrico 1, 24, from Choumert Road, SE15, found guilty of grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent, was handed an eight-year jail term on Tuesday, 26 March.
Kieron Holt, 25, of McNeil Road, SE5, who previously pled guilty to attempted murder and firearm possession, received 24 years. All three were sentenced at the Old Bailey on Friday, 10 May.
How the Shocking Attack Unfolded
The shooting exploded on Saturday, 2 June 2018, just before 8 pm on southampton/" title="Southampton" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Southampton Way. Police rushed to the scene after reports of gunfire and found two men aged 22 and 25 with gunshot wounds.
The court heard the two victims were driving when another car started chasing them. The suspects’ vehicle crashed into theirs, forcing it to stop. Then, a gun was thrust out the window and two shots fired.
The attackers sped off, leaving the victims to flee on foot. An off-duty doctor helped the wounded at a nearby bus shelter before emergency services arrived.
Victim’s Life Forever Changed
- The driver, only 22, was shot in the face and torso, suffered a broken jaw, and was blinded in one eye.
- The 25-year-old passenger escaped serious injury.
The Met’s Trident and Area Command teams launched a manhunt. CCTV showed Ford and Holt in the getaway vehicle. Ford was arrested by armed police on 7 June, Holt on 12 June, and enquiries revealed a third man, Charles, was nearby during the attack.
“This was a brutal attack which left one man suffering life-changing injuries which he will sadly never recover fully from,” said Detective Sergeant Jo Ross.
“The victim still requires ongoing medical care due to these three men’s callous actions, which could easily have been fatal. This trio are very dangerous men who have now been brought to justice and will serve lengthy prison sentences.”
