Three men locked up for nearly 20 years in ‘Ice’ drug ring bust across East London
East London drug dealers struck down by ‘Operation Continuum’
Three men have been jailed following a major police crackdown targeting drug crime in Tower Hamlets, Hackney, and Islington. The gang ran a ruthless ‘Ice’ and crack cocaine supply line from December 2021 to June 2022.
Sentences handed down at Snaresbrook Crown Court
On Thursday, 30 March, sentences were handed out at Snaresbrook Crown Court after a five-week trial earlier this year. The defendants were found guilty of conspiracy to supply crack cocaine and heroin, plus possession of criminal property.
- Shumon Miah, 25, of Arrow Road, Tower Hamlets – 7 years for conspiracy to supply crack cocaine, heroin, and possession of criminal property.
- Nasir Ahmed, 24, of Killick Way, Tower Hamlets – 7 years and 6 months for the same offences.
- Shuhan Ahmed, 24, of Stepney Way, Tower Hamlets – 5 years and 3 months for conspiracy to supply crack cocaine and heroin.
Police vow to keep clamping down on drug-related crime
The convictions came as part of Operation Continuum, a joint police and Tower Hamlets Council initiative to root out drug crime in the borough.
Detective Chief Inspector Sean Lyons, Central East BCU, said: “Central East Police are committed to helping all those affected by violence and the supply of drugs linked to crime. We work closely with communities and partners across London, balancing the need for diversion, treatment, support, and firm enforcement. “The connection between drug dealing and violence is clear. The more we disrupt these operations and bring offenders to justice, the safer our communities become.”
