Three Men Jailed for Life Over Brutal Garden Murder in Kington
Life Sentences for Attackers
- Ajay Price, 21, from Canon Pyon, gets life with a minimum of 15 years.
- Luke Bellis, 30, of High Street, Kington, sentenced to life with at least 17-and-a-half years.
- John Lock, 35, from Greenfields, Kington, handed life with a minimum of 17 years.
Unprovoked Attack Ends in Tragedy
The trio was found guilty of murdering Carl Dyche from Kington on December 2, 2021. The court heard how Carl was viciously assaulted in his own garden after the men climbed over his back gate. The attack was relentless and totally uncalled-for.
Carl’s wife and young son tried to intervene as the men battered him with sustained blows. The beating was so severe that Carl later died in hospital from his injuries.
Police Lead Investigation Pays Off
Detective Inspector Chris Percival said: “This was a deeply upsetting investigation for the family as Carl was senselessly beaten in a brutal and unmotivated attack in front of his wife and young stepson. Bravely and with the utmost dignity, both Carl’s wife and stepson provided evidence which helped reach the guilty verdicts. While invaluable, it was an incredibly difficult task for a grieving family, especially those who witnessed this harrowing event in person.”
“Understandably this has been an incredibly difficult time for Carl’s family and close friends and I would like to again offer my sincere condolences to them. While today’s sentencing will not bring Carl back, I hope it does at least allow his family to finally begin the grieving process.”
