Man Found Dead in Bournemouth Alleyway: Three Charged with Murder
Dorset Police are hunting for justice after a man was found dead in a Bournemouth alley. At 3.16pm on Friday 14 January 2022, emergency services were called to an alley at the end of Shelbourne Road where 56-year-old Michael “Shaun” Bastable was discovered unresponsive. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three Men Charged Following Forensic Probe
After a thorough investigation and a post-mortem revealed fatal internal injuries, police arrested four suspects late January. Three Bournemouth men – Hayden Johnson (28), Damien Johnson (30), and Dominic MacDonald (30) – now face murder and robbery charges linked to Mr Bastable’s death.
They are set to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Monday 31 January 2022.
Further Arrests Made, Some Released
- A 27-year-old woman initially arrested on suspicion of fraud has been released without charge.
- On Friday 28 January, another 35-year-old Bournemouth woman was arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation and remains under investigation.
Police Urge Public to Stay Silent and Help with Information
“Following a meticulous investigation, the CPS has authorised charges for murder and robbery. Our thoughts remain with Mr Bastable’s family,” said Detective Superintendent Gavin Dudfield.
“It is vital the justice system runs its course. We ask the public to avoid sharing any information online that might prejudice the trial.”
