Brutal London Road Torture: Three Men Jailed for Knife, Salt Water, and Flamethrower Attack
Six Hours of Horrific Abuse
Charlie Saunter, William O’Brien, and Kai Haruna unleashed a terrifying six-hour assault on their victim at a home in London Road, Gravesend on the evening of 5 July 2020. The trio used knives, boiling salt water, and even a homemade flamethrower to inflict barbaric torture.
Unprovoked Attack Turned Sadistic
The victim suffered multiple knife cuts, burns, dog bites, and horrific genital mutilation. Haruna intensified the savagery by jumping on the victim’s chest until he passed out. The attack reportedly stemmed from disputes over money or drug supply issues, with disturbing video footage of the ordeal circulating online.
Swift Police Action and Sentencing
Saunter, O’Brien, and Haruna were arrested later that same day. Officers seized two knives and significant amounts of heroin and crack cocaine during the arrests. Saunter was slammed with 13 years and six months in jail, O’Brien got 11 years, and Haruna was locked up for eight years and three months.
Each must serve at least two thirds of their sentence before applying for parole. Upon release, they face a four-year extended licence period, with immediate recall to prison if they breach conditions.
Warning from Kent Police
Detective Constable John Carless of Kent Police’s County Line and Gangs Team said: “This case is a stark reminder of the wider range of violent crimes involved in the supply of drugs. Haruna, O’Brien, and Saunter planned and launched a lengthy attack on their victim, subjecting him to vicious torture techniques over a period of six hours. These men are violent and dangerous criminals with zero regard for the law.”
