Three Bolton Men Jail Sentences for Sick Blackrod Grooming Gang

Three men from Bolton have been locked up today (Monday, 28 April 2025) after a groundbreaking probe uncovered a vile grooming gang operating in Blackrod. The trio were convicted of horrendous sexual offences against girls under 16.

Harsh Sentences for Sick Predators

  • Ashley Darbyshire (born 01/01/1997) was hit with:
    • Three counts of rape
    • 12 counts of sexual activity with a child
    • Three counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity
    • One count of making indecent images of a child

    He’s been jailed for 15 years, with a minimum 10-year tariff before parole chances.

  • Brandon Harwood (born 20/09/1999) was found guilty of:
    • One count of rape
    • One count of attempted oral rape
    • One count of sexual activity with a child under 16

    Harwood got 10 years in prison and must serve two-thirds of his sentence. He is also on the Sex Offenders’ Register FOR LIFE.

  • Ross Corley (born 14/01/1995) convicted of:
    • Two counts of sexual activity with a child

    Corley was jailed for 28 months, slapped with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for 10 years.

Another unnamed man was convicted of two sexual offences and awaits sentencing.

Police Speak Out on Justice Served

“Today’s sentences show the seriousness of these crimes against vulnerable young victims. We salute the bravery of survivors who came forward to aid the investigation. We’re committed to hunting down those who exploit children and making sure justice is served,” said a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson.

The case is part of a wider investigation into historical child sexual exploitation in Blackrod. Police urge all victims to speak out – no matter how long ago the abuse happened.
