Three Drunk Drivers Nabbed in Major Medway Roadside Blitz
Officers cracked down on dangerous driving in Chatham last Friday, stopping nearly 60 vehicles on New Road near Fort Pitt Hill. Medway’s Community Policing Team, Local Policing Team, and Special Constables from the Roads Policing Unit joined forces for the operation.
Drunk Drivers Caught Red-Handed
During the checks, three men were separately arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and subsequently charged. Here’s who they are:
- Jude Ade, 42, of Esplanade, Rochester – charged with DUI, bailed on the spot, due in maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on January 24, 2023.
- Ali Murshed, 37, of James Street, Rochester – charged with DUI, released on bail, set to appear in Medway Magistrates’ Court on January 11, 2023.
- Dean Jarvis, 40, of Sturdee Avenue, Gillingham – charged with DUI, bailed, due in Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on January 24, 2023.
Traffic Offence Blitz Nets Multiple Violations
- 10 drivers slapped with Traffic Offence Reports for offences including no seatbelts and driving without a licence.
- Four vehicles seized for having no insurance.
- Two drivers handed defect rectification forms to fix vehicle problems and prove repairs done.
Drugs Search Reveals Cannabis
Officers also searched three vehicles under the Misuse of Drugs Act, handing one cannabis warning and seizing a small amount of the drug.
This operation shows Medway police are serious about keeping roads safe over the festive period. Drivers beware – the crackdown isn’t going anywhere.
