Pink Mustang Packed with Ecstasy Pulled Over on M6
Police stopped a pink Ford Mustang on the M6 at 1am on 21 October 2021—and what they found was massive. Inside the car driven by Emily Phillips, 33, were thousands of ecstasy tablets worth up to £500,000.
Drugs Tied to Trio via DNA Evidence
Officers discovered Michael Smyth’s DNA on some of the Class A drug packages. A raid on Smyth’s home in liverpool/" title="Liverpool" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Liverpool uncovered even more ecstasy tablets and drug paraphernalia. Smyth, 29, along with Robert Dalton, 40, a passenger in the Mustang, both pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply. Phillips admitted to being involved in drug supply and dangerous driving.
Jail Time for Drivers Behind Ecstasy Haul
- Emily Phillips from Swanley, Kent, led the chaos, narrowly avoiding collisions with erratic driving between lanes at 30-40mph. Sentenced to 14 years and 4 months.
- Michael Smyth of Liverpool got 7 and a half years.
- Robert Dalton of Gravesend, Kent, received 5 years and 10 months.
The trio’s downfall began with vigilant officers spotting the Mustang near Junction 18 in Holmes Chapel. After a stop, Phillips was arrested for dangerous driving, while Dalton was later detained following the drug discovery.

“What started as a basic stop check resulted in the seizure of a substantial amount of class A drugs,” said Police Constable Mark Jones from Crewe Proactive CID. “Their convictions and significant sentences show the strength of the evidence gathered and the value of police stop checks.”
“I hope these sentences warn others: if you come to Cheshire to commit crime, you will be caught and brought to justice.”
