Brutal Attack Ends in Tragedy
Three teenagers — a 16-year-old girl and two 15-year-old boys — have admitted manslaughter over the death of John Hackett. The tragic incident unfolded in April 2023 when Mr Hackett was found dead in his Nuneaton home, just one day after being savagely attacked by youths at Snow Hill Recreation Ground on Camp Hill Road.
Community Outraged by Violence
The vicious beating sent shockwaves through Nuneaton, sparking quick police action. The three young offenders were arrested soon after the attack. Their identities remain shielded by law due to their age.
Guilty Pleas Mark Major Breakthrough
On January 8, 2024, the teenagers formally pleaded guilty to manslaughter, a critical step in closing this tragic chapter. Detective Chief Inspector Collette O’Keefe commented on the impact: “This brutal assault has affected not only the victim’s family but the entire community.”
