Nottingham triple murder suspect remanded ahead of May trial
Jamie Barrow, 31, has been charged with murdering a Nottingham mum and her two young children in a blaze at their home. He appeared at Nottingham Crown Court today (Monday, November 28) on three counts of murder.
Tragedy at Nottingham home
Barrow faces charges over the deaths of Fatoumatta Hydara, 28, and her children Fatimah Drammeh, 3, and Naeemah Drammeh, aged just one. The trio died following a deliberate fire set at their Fairisle Close address on November 20.
Trial set for May 2023
The court has remanded Barrow in custody with his trial scheduled for May 22, 2023. Nottinghamshire Police emphasise that any crime perceived as motivated by hostility or prejudice must be recorded as a hate crime, in line with national guidelines.
Police on hate crime status and investigation
Assistant Chief Constable Rob Griffin said: “My thoughts and feelings are very much with Fatoumatta’s family during this incredibly difficult time. These crimes have caused unimaginable pain and shocked the community and beyond. We are determined to get justice for this family.”
“Specialist officers continue to support the family. While these crimes are recorded as hate crimes due to public perception, there is currently no evidence that racial or religious hatred was the motive.”
“The investigation remains open and thorough, but I urge everyone to stop speculation and social media comments. Such activity risks prejudicing the case and obstructing justice.”
“Our officers will support the family in the coming months as we seek answers and justice for this terrible loss.”
