Widow’s Heartbreaking Tribute After M40 Tragedy Sentencing
Gemma Chamberlain has poured her heart out following the sentencing of Gagandeep Rai, 28, who was jailed for more than seven years for causing death by dangerous driving on the M40 in 2019.
Her husband, Pete Chamberlain, who died in the crash, was a devoted family man and former firefighter. Gemma’s moving tribute captures the pain felt by the family.
“Our World Fell Apart When You Left Us”
Gemma said: “I still wait for you to walk through the door and see your smile. You were the first man I loved. I am so lucky to have had 16 years with you, although it should have been forever.
“Pete’s life was all about his kids. A true family man, he worked tirelessly to give them everything. Our three children are just like him in so many ways — they’re all I have left.
“We miss him dearly — his voice, his laugh, his jokes, and his kind, caring heart. He was loved by so many.
Grateful for Support from Emergency Services and Police
Gemma expressed gratitude to the emergency teams on scene that dreadful night. “Pete, an ex-firefighter himself, would have had the utmost respect for them — as do I.”
She also thanked family liaison officer Dawn and Thames Valley Police for their relentless work to secure justice for Pete and his friend Paul.
A Loss That Will Last Forever
“No sentence will ever be enough,” Gemma said. “Pete’s time with us was taken way too soon. Now the trial is over, we can finally grieve properly and try to move forward.
“Sleep tight, darling. Love always and forever.”
