Hamas Delays Hostage Release, Blames Israel for Truce Breach
Hamas’s military wing, the Qassam Brigades, has announced a hold-up on the second batch of hostage releases. They accuse Israel of breaking the agreement terms, forcing them to stall the prisoner exchange until conditions improve.
Aid Lorries Blocked, Hamas Claims
The Qassam Brigades say the key issue is Israel blocking aid trucks from entering northern Gaza. They insist these humanitarian supplies must be allowed through as part of the deal. But how long the delay will last remains unclear.
Swap So Far: 24 Freed, 39 Released
Yesterday, 24 hostages were freed — 13 Israelis, 10 Thais, and a Filipino. In return, Israel released 39 Palestinian detainees. It was a tense but successful swap.
Israel Denies Any Truce Violations
Israel flatly rejects Hamas’s claims. The government insists it’s stuck to the ceasefire and hasn’t obstructed any aid deliveries.
A senior Hamas source told the BBC: “Israel has allowed only three of 100 agreed aid trucks into northern Gaza. They are blocking vital humanitarian assistance.”
He also accused Israel of breaching the ceasefire by flying drones over southern Gaza, further ratcheting up tensions.
The hostage swap drama shows no signs of easing, with both sides blaming each other for the breakdown. The region remains on edge as negotiations stall and hostages’ fates hang in the balance.
