26 Snapped at Massive Lockdown Car Meet in Alton

A huge car meet in Alton ended in chaos as 26 drivers and passengers, mostly in their twenties, were slapped with fixed penalty notices. The illegal gathering took place at Blacknest Industrial Estate on the evening of Saturday, 23 January.

Police Crash Party, Issue Fines

At around 8:15pm, a local alerted police about the disturbance. Officers from various teams scrambled to the scene to find a car park packed with BMWs, Nissans, Toyotas, and drivers from as far as Surrey, Kent, Berkshire, and Shropshire. Many attendees came from different households, with few wearing masks.

The police swiftly blocked off the area, identifying and engaging with everyone present. Despite attempts to explain the Health Protection Regulations, 26 people blatantly broke lockdown rules and were reported for summons and fines.

Superintendent Lamb Hits Out at Lockdown Fools

“This was an excellent piece of team working by officers… following a clearly unacceptable gathering during the current pandemic,” said Superintendent Phil Lamb. “While we usually engage and encourage compliance, this blatant defiance demanded enforcement. Some accepted responsibility, but many were hostile. It’s shocking to see such reckless behaviour risking lives and pressuring the NHS. “Remember, government guidance says ‘stay local’ means stay in your own village, town, or city part. Everyone must follow regulations to protect the NHS and save lives. Most people are doing their bit, but those who break the rules should expect fines.”

Warning for All Rule Breakers

  • Car meets remain illegal under lockdown rules.
  • Travel outside local area is strongly discouraged.
  • Breaking rules risks personal health and strains NHS resources.
  • Fines and summons await those who flout regulations.

The Alton crackdown sends a clear message: lockdown safety is no joke, and police are ready to act fast against gatherings putting communities at risk.
