Ex-Postman Kevin Dell Dodges Jail Over Child Sex Assaults
Kevin Dell, 61, from Trowbridge, has escaped behind-bars time after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting two children. The former postman was slapped with a 12-month jail term – suspended for two years – at Swindon Crown Court on December 10. He must register as a sex offender for 10 years and is hit with a decade-long Sexual Harm Prevention Order plus a five-year restraining order.
Shocking Abuse Cases Exposed
The vile offences only came out after Dell repeatedly made unwanted advances towards a child he knew from work in December 2023. Police were called in, leading to his arrest. Further abuse spanning 2019 to 2021 against another child emerged thanks to a Sarah’s Law probe. This law allows parents to check if someone around their child is a danger.
Police Laud Victims’ Bravery
“I’d like to pay tribute to the victims for coming forward and the strength they have shown,” said Local Crime Investigator Tamara Barnett. “They have shown immense courage and bravery, especially for young people.”
Barnett didn’t hold back on Dell’s attitude: “He has shown no remorse, even bragging he did nothing wrong despite pleading guilty. I’m pleased he has now been sentenced and faces strong protections.”
What is Sarah’s Law?
The Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme – aka Sarah’s Law – lets parents and guardians ask police if someone with access to a child has a criminal record or poses a risk. For more info, visit the Wiltshire Police Sarah’s Law page.
