Blast Hits Port Talbot Steel Plant

An explosion tore through Tata Steelworks in Port Talbot just after 3am, leaving two people injured. South Wales Police and Fire and Rescue teams rushed to the scene, which is now under control.

Locals Shaken by Early Morning Blast

Nearby resident David James said his home shook and he heard three loud bangs in the early hours of Friday. The blast is believed to have been caused by a molten train accident inside the steelworks.

Emergency Services Warn Public to Stay Clear

A South Wales Police spokesperson said: “We received calls at around 3.35am reporting an explosion at Tata Steelworks. Two casualties have minor injuries. The incident is ongoing, and emergency services remain on site investigating.”

“We ask the public to avoid the area at this time. Further updates will be provided.”
