Two Men Charged After Canterbury Police Assault
Two men have landed themselves in hot water following a late-night brawl in Canterbury city centre.
Violent Disturbance on Canterbury High Street
On 4 January 2020, at 10.15pm, officers were called to an altercation on Canterbury’s bustling High Street. Three kent-police/" title="Kent Police" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Kent Police officers were assaulted during the incident, with one suffering facial injuries.
Arrests and Court Appearances
- Stanley Pinto, 25, from Thornton Heath, Surrey, faces four counts of assaulting an emergency worker, criminal damage, and possession of a bladed article.
- Aaron Shomade, 24, of Brent Cross, North West London, denies assaulting an emergency worker.
Both men were arrested and appeared at Margate Magistrates Court on 6 January 2020. Shomade was granted bail and will return to court on 27 February 2020. Pinto pleaded guilty and remains in custody, awaiting sentencing at Canterbury Crown Court.
