Two Men Charged with Manslaughter After Morley Woman Dies in Robbery Attempt
LEEDS – Two men have been hit with manslaughter charges following the death of 64-year-old Nhi Muoi Wai in a botched robbery at her Morley home.
Tragic Death During Home Robbery
The heart-breaking incident took place on Tuesday, March 28, on Millside Walk, Morley. Nhi Muoi Wai collapsed during the attempted robbery and was rushed to hospital but sadly died.
Detectives from West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team launched a full investigation to find those responsible.
Brothers Face Serious Charges
- Samuel Hanrahan, 20, and Jerry Hanrahan, 18, were first charged with attempted robbery in April.
- Following talks with the Crown Prosecution Service, they were hit with extra manslaughter charges.
Jerry Hanrahan already pleaded guilty to attempted robbery, while Samuel entered his guilty plea on hearing day. Neither has yet responded to the manslaughter charges.
Next Court Date Set
The brothers are due back in Leeds Crown Court on September 7 for further hearings. The case continues to send shockwaves through the Morley community as justice seeks to be served.
