Off-Duty Cop Attacked at Canterbury McDonald’s

Tensions boiled over at a Canterbury McDonald’s as an off-duty police officer was assaulted while trying to break up a fight. The shocking attack unfolded on the evening of Tuesday, 13 April 2021, outside the St George’s Street branch.

Two Men Charged After Chaos

kent-police/" title="Kent Police" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Kent Police quickly stepped in after the officer was injured. Another man was also attacked during the messy scuffle. Both suspects were charged and are now facing court.

  • Luke Burden, 23, of Hillbrow Lane, Ashford, was hit with charges of assaulting an emergency worker and being drunk and disorderly.
  • Lenny Russell, 19, of Morgan Close, Ashford, faces assault and drunk and disorderly charges.

Bail Set, Court Date Looms

Both men were released on bail and must appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on 19 May.
