Two Men Busted for Forcing Woman Into Labour and Human Trafficking
Kent Police launched a serious investigation after a call raised concerns for a woman at a Canterbury property on Wednesday, 26 October 2022.
Serious Charges Laid
- Giovani Gabriel Popa, 28, of Godwin Road, Canterbury, was charged on Friday 28 October with multiple offences including forcing a person into labour, arranging travel for exploitation, false imprisonment intended for human trafficking, and inciting prostitution for gain.
- Constantin-Bogdan Rosu, 29, of Thanington Road, Canterbury, faces similar charges: false imprisonment with intent to traffic, arranging travel for exploitation, inciting prostitution for gain, and forcing a person into labour.
Next Steps in the Legal Battle
Both men appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 29 October and were remanded in custody. Their case is due back at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 28 November.
