Evil staff at Kerelaw Residential School convicted again for abuse

Two Former Staff Found Guilty of Abuse

Matthew George, 73, and John Muldoon, 69, were convicted today at the High Court in Glasgow for serious sexual and physical abuse of children at Kerelaw Residential School in Stevenston, Ayrshire. The horrifying offences happened while they worked there between 1975 and 2004.

Previous Sentences Didn’t Stop Justice

Both men had already served time following a major investigation by Strathclyde Police from 2004 to 2006. That probe uncovered physical and sexual abuse by staff at the residential care home. New reports led to a fresh specialist police inquiry focused on these crimes.

Police Praise Victims’ Bravery, Urge Others to Speak Out

“We want to thank everyone who came forward. Their bravery helped secure today’s verdict,” said Senior Investigating Officer DI Ross Black.

“No matter how long ago the abuse happened, justice is possible. Police Scotland remains determined to bring offenders to justice and continue investigating historic child abuse in these care homes.”

“If anyone else experienced abuse at Kerelaw and hasn’t come forward, we urge them to contact police.”
