Masked Machete Duo Storm Home with Hammer in Broad Daylight

Kaine Fearn and Cameron Thorn wore balaclavas as they broke into a shared home on Station Road, Carlton. Armed with a machete and hammer, they charged into the victim’s bedroom and launched a terrifying attack.

Victim Injured in Brazen Daytime Attack

The victim suffered facial injuries during the midday melee on 14 August 2022. When he shouted for help, the masked pair fled. CCTV shows one speeding off in a nearby parked car.

Police Nab Thugs Hours Later

Officers caught up with the getaway car in Derbyshire hours later. Fearn, 25, was found in the passenger seat with his partner Juliette Ashton driving. Both were arrested, and further inquiries led to Thorn’s capture at another Derbyshire address.

Harsh Prison Sentences for Violent Trio

  • Fearn pleaded guilty to affray and possession of a bladed article. He was jailed for 2 years and 1 month.
  • Thorn admitted affray and possession of an offensive weapon and received a 3-year sentence.
  • Ashton pleaded guilty to assisting an offender. She was given a suspended 8-month sentence plus 10 rehabilitation days.

All three were slapped with restraining orders following sentencing at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday (17 March).

“This would’ve been a very scary experience for the victim, who was at home when he was suddenly confronted by these two men,” said Detective Constable Lionel Thursby. “By arming themselves with weapons and wearing balaclavas for good measure, Fearn and Thorn clearly aimed to scare their victim.

“This kind of aggression is utterly unacceptable and has no place in our communities. Carrying offensive weapons is a serious offence, and I’m pleased to see these offenders punished accordingly. Their sentences send a strong message that Nottinghamshire Police will not tolerate violence.”
