Joint Police Sting Brings Cruel Dealers to Justice

Two men involved in distributing crack cocaine and heroin, who forced a vulnerable 15-year-old boy into their drug empire, have been locked up for a total of nine years. The Met Police and Cambridgeshire Police teamed up for a swift investigation that exposed the pair’s grim exploitation of a child.

Men Sentenced for Child Exploitation and Drug Supply

  • David Rosa, 21, homeless, was sentenced to 4 years and 2 months at cambridge-crown-court/" title="Cambridge Crown Court" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Cambridge Crown Court on July 15, 2024, after pleading guilty to drug supply and human trafficking.
  • Lamar Griffiths, 29, from Harlow, got 4 years and 11 months on September 12, 2024, after admitting to supplying Class A drugs.

How the Teen Was Found and Rescued

The case kicked off when officers found the missing 15-year-old in Peterborough on August 7, 2023. The boy was hidden at a local drug user’s home and was being coerced into pushing crack and heroin for Rosa and Griffiths. Using data from the boy’s phone, police tracked the criminals’ movements, uncovering the full extent of their operation.

Arrests and Police Praise

  • Griffiths was caught in Newmarket trying to ditch drugs and his phone out of a window on August 9, 2023.
  • Rosa was arrested at Cambridge station, tracked after boarding a train from Peterborough.

Despite the teen not testifying, he was protected from prosecution and referred to safeguarding services to shield him from further trauma.

Police Constable Jack Hardwick, who led the probe, said: “Rescuing this vulnerable boy from the cruel hands of exploitative drug dealers was our top priority. The dedicated work of officers from the Met and Cambridgeshire Police has ensured Griffiths and Rosa were brought to justice. This case sends a clear message to drug gangs exploiting children – we will catch you, and you will face the consequences.”
