Knife Attack Thugs Sent Down in Watford
Two men have been jailed for savage knife assaults in Watford after being found guilty of Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH).
Brutal Stabbing Inside Watford Flat
Sami Sarout, 28, homeless, was locked up for five years and 10 months at St Albans Crown Court on Tuesday 26 January. He was convicted by a jury of Section 18 GBH for stabbing a 16-year-old boy twice in the arm, causing severe injuries that required surgery under general anaesthetic.
His accomplice, 21-year-old Ali Mohammed, formerly of Edgware, landed a sentence of two years and nine months after being found guilty of Section 20 GBH, robbery, perverting the course of justice, and breaching a Community Protection Notice (CPN).
Violent Attack & Police Hunt
The court heard how on the evening of 18 November 2019, Sarout and Mohammed forced their way into a flat on Beechen Grove. Sarout wielded a large knife and stabbed the teenage victim. Mohammed brandished a kitchen knife and tried to stab a second victim, a 20-year-old man, who fought back and sustained a thumb injury.
The victims, known to the attackers, escaped onto the flat’s balcony and slammed the door shut, alerting a passing police car below by shouting for help. Both recovered fully following medical treatment.
When officers arrived, the thugs had fled but were soon arrested and charged.
Strong Words from Police
Detective Constable George Lewin said: “This was a challenging investigation but the jury took just one hour and 20 minutes to convict both men.”
“Mohammed blatantly ignored a Community Protection Notice banning him from Watford and recklessly travelled here with Sarout to carry out this violent attack.”
“Let this verdict be a warning: carrying and using knives in Watford will never be tolerated. We will hunt you down, charge you, and take you before the courts.”
