Police sprang into action after a white Mercedes-Benz Sprinter was reported stolen from Leeming Street, Mansfield, at 11.30am on Tuesday (29 November). Just 30 minutes later, officers tracked down the van in Top Valley.

Suspicious Report Sparks Double Arrest

Following their inquiries, cops began to doubt the theft claim’s authenticity. A 28-year-old woman was arrested at the wheel of the van and taken into custody. Minutes later, a 33-year-old man was nabbed on a bus heading from Mansfield to nottingham/" title="Nottingham" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Nottingham after police monitored his movements.

Police Dig Deeper While Suspects Await Bail

Both suspects have been bailed while detectives continue investigating the case.

“Officers did a great job in tracking down the van and detaining two suspects at separate locations within an hour of this report,” said Detective Inspector Luke Todd of Nottinghamshire Police.

“A team of detectives are now working hard to fully understand the true nature of this case so that any criminality can be uncovered and appropriate action taken.”
