Two Thugs Jailed for Brutal Home Invasion in Maidstone

Two violent robbers have been locked up for over 20 years after a savage 45-minute attack on a man in his own flat in Maidstone town centre.

Bitter Assault Under the Guise of Borrowing Milk

Bader Mohamed, 37, from Barking, and 25-year-old Lewis Rowley, homeless, were found guilty at Maidstone Crown Court for their roles in the horrific beating, which left the victim with life-changing injuries.

The nightmare began on the evening of 9 June 2024, when Rowley knocked on the victim’s door pretending to borrow milk. Moments later, both men forced their way inside and demanded cash.

While one ransacked the flat, the other launched a merciless attack. The victim was dragged across the floor, hammered with a glass bottle, punched repeatedly, and stamped on so violently he lost two teeth. Mohamed even tried to choke him with string. The victim feared he would die and described the assault as “barbaric.”

Attackers Flee, Then Return to Set Fire

After fleeing the scene, Mohamed bizarrely came back to try to torch the flat. The victim escaped to raise the alarm, but when he returned, he found Mohamed attempting to start a fire. Police quickly arrested Mohamed nearby, and Rowley was caught the next day.

The victim was rushed to hospital where he underwent surgery, including treatment for a fractured skull. He later identified both attackers in a police lineup. CCTV caught Mohamed buying a bottle of vodka—the same kind used during the beating—just before the attack.

Justice Served: Heavy Sentences for ‘Dangerous’ Duo

  • Bader Mohamed was sentenced to 12 years in prison, plus a four-year extended licence.
  • Lewis Rowley received a 10-year prison term, plus a three-year extended licence.

Both were labelled “dangerous” and must serve two-thirds of their sentences before parole.

Detective Constable Josh Littley said: “Mohamed and Rowley subjected their victim to an unimaginable and utterly barbaric ordeal. He was fighting for his life when Mohamed choked him. The victim suffered horrific injuries, including a fractured skull.”

“This was an unprovoked, senseless attack with a lasting impact. I hope these sentences help the victim rebuild trust and feel safe at home again.”

The judge praised the swift police investigation that brought the criminals to justice, stressing the importance of community safety in stopping such brutal crimes.
