Brutal Bike Attack in Newtown Road Underpass

A man in his 30s was viciously assaulted while cycling in Newtown Road underpass at around 9.55am on Sunday, 14 November 2021. Two men attacked him, hitting his face with a heavy object inside a carrier bag before beating him further as he lay on the ground.

Thieves Make Off with Bike and Valuables

The attackers then stole the victim’s mountain bike, coat, wallet, and mobile phone before fleeing the scene. The stolen bike was later found abandoned on Samuel Peto Way.

Police Launch Urgent Appeal for Witnesses

Detective Sergeant Tony Edwards urged the public for help: “Investigators have been checking CCTV in the area following this incident and are now releasing an image of a man who may be able to assist us with our enquiries. Anybody who recognises him is urged to call our appeal line at their earliest opportunity.”

Police want motorists with dashcam footage from the time and local residents or businesses with private CCTV to come forward.
