Family Attacked Outside Domino’s Pizza in Shocking High Street Assault
Eggs Fly, Violence Erupts
A peaceful family meal at Domino’s on the High Street turned vicious when a gang of youths began throwing eggs from outside. The victims, simply enjoying their pizza, were suddenly targeted without warning.
Step-Father Brutally Beaten
When the family confronted the troublemakers, the step-father, 53, was knocked unconscious. He was then repeatedly punched and kicked while helpless on the floor, suffering serious injuries including a fractured skull.
His step-son tried to step in but was also attacked, sustaining eye injuries in the brutal assault.
Youths Identified and Jailed
Police identified several suspects. Two were charged with grievous bodily harm: Joshua Moody, 20, from Hammonds Green, Framfield, and Anthony Hayward, 21, from Waldron Thorns, Heathfield. Both offenders were under 18 when the attack happened on the evening of November 30, 2019.
“The victims were just trying to enjoy a family meal when a large group of youths started causing trouble, including throwing eggs,” said Detective Constable Jon Moore of Eastbourne CID. “This attack has had a profound and lasting impact on the family.”
Convictions and Sentences
Hayward admitted guilt and was sentenced to 12 months behind bars. Moody denied the charges but was found guilty by a jury and sentenced to four years in prison at Hove Crown Court on April 21.
