Sadistic Attacker Jailed for Brutal Assault on Woman in Preston
A man has been locked up for a vile, prolonged assault that left a woman fighting for her life. Ross Brown, 35, inflicted horrific injuries during a sadistic attack in Preston.
Victim Found Barely Conscious and Bleeding
Police discovered the woman, in her 40s, in a Preston alleyway in the early hours of 12 February last year. She was severely beaten, bleeding badly, and barely conscious.
Officers followed a trail of blood from the scene to Brown’s home on Bleasdale Street East. A search revealed he had tried to clean up the mess while his victim lay injured nearby.
Gruesome Injuries Revealed in Hospital
The victim suffered multiple rib fractures, a collapsed lung, severe bruising to the neck, open wounds to the back of her head, and had three missing teeth, doctors confirmed after hospital treatment.
History of Violence and Criminal Behaviour
The night before the attack, Brown was involved in a pub brawl where he assaulted three people, including the landlord. He pleaded guilty to assault, sexual offences, indecent exposure, criminal damage, and cannabis possession with intent to supply.
During an eight-day trial at Burnley Crown Court, Brown was found guilty of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. On Tuesday, he was sentenced to 15-and-a-half years and labelled a dangerous offender.
