Violent Thug Fakes Wheelchair to Steal Beer – Ends Up Behind Bars
A ruthless 19-year-old robber who pretended to be wheelchair-bound to nick crates of beer has been locked up after bashing a security guard in Staplehurst.
Crash, Chaos and Crime Spree
Davey Brown’s wild rampage began on 3 June 2025 when he smashed his car into a parked vehicle in Edenbridge. Instead of stopping, the yob sped toward the other driver and then raced off through a red light.
Minutes later, Brown turned up at Sainsbury’s on Station Road, shamelessly acting like he needed a wheelchair. With an accomplice in tow, he stuffed two crates of beer under a jacket on his lap, then tried to leg it without paying.
Violence Breaks Out in Store
A security guard spotted the con and stepped in. Brown didn’t back down – he launched a savage punch at the guard and threw stolen beer cans, bottles, and other items wildly. Another staff member was hurt in the chaos.
Brown made a break for it but was nabbed by police within 30 minutes. During his arrest, he hurled vile threats and abuse at officers.
Heavy Jail Sentence for Dangerous Criminal
The Staplehurst local later pleaded guilty to robbery, assault, dangerous driving, property damage, and other charges at Maidstone Crown Court. On 6 November, he was slammed with over three years behind bars and a driving ban.
His 17-year-old partner in crime was also sentenced to six months in a young offenders’ institute on 12 July.
PC Ricky Strong said: “Brown is a violent man who endangered another motorist, attacked a security guard and their colleague, and made threats to attending police officers.
“He left a man with injuries requiring hospital treatment for simply carrying out his job.
“A custodial sentence means Brown will be unable to put any other members of the public at risk for some time.”
